Benchmarking
Franklin + Andrews has a dedicated economic research unit which
can analyse the cost of any type of construction against industry
standards.

In conjunction with the project team involved in a
project or as a stand-alone exercise, we act as a catalyst to
challenge and assist design teams in working within financial
constraints and can help identify areas needing further work and /
or examples of excellence.
The benchmarking exercises can cover capital construction cost, the
component parts of construction cost and life cycle / whole life
cycle costs.
We also have a dedicated
Economic Research Unit› who
analyse and examine cost data relating to building services systems
from a number of external sources. The unit produces a number of
industry publications which are available to
order
online from our website.
Whole life costing analysis
We understand that the capital cost of construction is part of a
bigger equation of the whole life cost of a building. Whether it is
for owners/occupiers or developers, the need to understand the
whole life costs of any design solution is important.
For owners we work with the design team to create solutions to help
reduce the operating costs over time and enhance the asset value
for the balance sheet.
Similarly for developers, a building which can demonstrate the
whole life costs are better than the industry benchmarks, should
benefit from a fast let and/or a higher rental/commercial value.

We have experience of modelling the cost of
components based on their design life which allows customers to
identify an appropriate level of ongoing maintenance funding.
